Adult Son Stabs Mother To Death At Home In Region, Police Say
A Capital Region man is accused of stabbing his mother to death.
Officers from the Rotterdam Police Department responded to a residence on Cobblestone Court for a report of a stabbing at around 7:20 p.m. Sunday, March 16.
Inside, they discovered Catherine Haggerty, 79, deceased, a Rotterdam Police spokesperson confirmed to Daily Voice.
Officers arrested the victim’s son, 39-year-old Patrick Haggerty, on suspicion of second-degree murder, police said. He was held at the Schenectady County jail ahead of arraignment.

Fabian Martinez-Reyes, 20, of Port Jefferson, was arrested Wednesday, Feb. 26, by Albany Police and members of the US Marshals Task Force, the agency said.

A suspect was arrested hours after a man was shot to death in the Capital Region.
The shooting occurred in Albany’s Beverwyck neighborhood, near the Albany News Deli on Central Avenue, at around 5:40 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30.

A man from the region is behind bars after allegedly shooting his father in the head, killing him.
Sullivan County resident Drew Botsford, age 46, of the town of Neversink was charged on Sunday, Oct. 8 with second-degree murder.
Trooper Steven Nevel, of the New York State Police, said officers responded to a residence on Bradley Avenue in the town of Neversink for a report of a cardiac arrest.
