Forget the palm trees and year-round beach weather in Florida; it turns out the best place to while away your golden years is right here in the Empire State, according to a new ranking.
The New York village of Lake Success, located on Long Island in Nassau County, snagged the number one spot on Niche’s 2023 list of “Best Places to Retire in America.”
To come up with its ranking, the site looked at several factors of interest to retirees, including weather, crime rates, housing costs, and access to amenities like restaurants, golf courses, fitness centers, and doctors.

Bob Kovachick Retiring From NewsChannel 13 After 50 Years In Weather Biz
After more than 50 years in the weather business, WNYT NewsChannel 13’s chief meteorologist, Bob Kovachick, is retiring.
He made the announcement Friday, Aug. 5, during the station’s 4 p.m. broadcast.
Kovachick briefly choked up as he began speaking, saying, "I don't know what to say and how to say it. Pardon me. I'm leaving channel 13. I'm retiring."
He quickly regained his composure before again saying he was leaving after 40 plus years of "the highs and lows, mostly highs, a few lows meteorologically."

The face, and of course, that voice of I’m Yo-LAHNNN-da Vega is calling it a career and retiring from the New York Lottery.
The New York Lottery announced this week on Twitter, that Vega, age 66, is retiring after 32 years of calling numbers, handing out giant checks, appearing on New Year's Eve in Times Square, and cheering on the Lottery in any way she could.

Popular Hudson Valley Restaurant Closes After More Than Three Decades In Business
A popular, family-run restaurant in the Hudson Valley has closed its doors after decades in business.
The Postage Inn, located at 838 NY-32 in the Ulster County hamlet of Tillson, officially, closed on Wednesday, Oct. 6.
The owners shared in a Facebook post on Monday, Oct. 4, that after nearly 34 years running the restaurant, they were ready to retire from the business and begin a new chapter.
