Manhunt: 2 Men Stole Car, Submachine Gun Before Hours-Long Search In Westchester, Police Say
Two Connecticut men, including one who was the subject of an hours-long manhunt in Westchester, face charges after stealing a vehicle, a submachine gun, and a semiautomatic handgun, police said.
The incident began on Monday, April 24 around 1:30 p.m., when Westchester County Police were alerted that a stolen black Audi from Fairfield County was traveling near the border of Pelham and Mount Vernon, according to the department.

Man Who Killed Northern Westchester Woman, Mother Released On Parole
The man who killed two women in his Westchester County apartment 36 years ago has been paroled from Green Haven Correctional Facility.
Paul Leon, age 53, formerly of Pelham, was released on Monday, Aug. 22, after having been granted an open date by the Board of Parole following his appearance on Wednesday, Aug. 3, said Rachel Connors of the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
Leon was 16 years old on July 27, 1986, when he killed Ossining resident Lois Feraca, age 83, and her 49-year-old daughter, Theresa Carbone, by beating and stabbing them.

Christopher Jack “CJ” Hackett, age 16, of Yonkers, died on Thursday, Aug. 4, after being struck while riding his scooter on McLean Avenue in Yonkers on Wednesday, Aug. 3.
Born in White Plains, and raised in Yonkers, CJ was about to begin his junior year at Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, said his obituary.

A Hudson Valley man who died at the age of 54 is being remembered for the positive, life-changing impact he and his work had on others.
Richard Almstead Jr., of Mahopac, died on Saturday, Feb. 5, according to his obituary.
A native of Westchester County, Almstead was born in Bronxville and grew up in Pelham, where he graduated from Pelham Memorial High School.
