Man Struck, Killed By Amtrak Train In Capital Region A man has died after being struck by an Amtrak train in the region. The Rensselaer County incident happened in the town of Schodack, along River Road, just before 9 a.m. Friday, July 5. New York State Police an Amtrak train stopped and called emergency services after striking a pedestrian. Authorities located the man and pronounced him dead at the scene a short time later. Police are withholding his identity until his family has been notified. The railroad tracks were closed in both directions for nearly 3 ½ hours while crews investigated. The railway has since reopened.

The Albany County incident happened at around 2 a.m. Sunday, June 30, on I-87 in Bethlehem. New York State Police said 36-year-old James Gibson Jr., of West Coxsackie, was walking in the right southbound lane near Exit 23 when he was struck by a car. Gibson died from his injuries at the scene. The driver immediately stopped and called 911, and is fully cooperating with the investigation, police said. The incident happened at around 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, in Albany’s Pine Hills neighborhood. Albany Police said the victim was lying in the roadway on Washington Avenue near Quail Street when he was hit by a vehicle. He suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. 14-Year-Old Struck, Killed While Walking On Capital Region Highway A 14-year-old was struck and killed while walking on a highway in the region. Emergency crews in Columbia County were called shortly before 5 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, with reports of a car vs. pedestrian crash in the town of Clermont, on State Route 9 near County Route 8. New York State Police determined that a 2007 Ford F550 was traveling northbound on Highway 9 when it struck the teenager, who was walking in the roadway at the time. Hudson Valley Man Charged For Fatal Hit-Run Crash Police have arrested a Hudson Valley man who allegedly struck and killed a 76-year-old woman in New York City and then fled the scene. Orange County resident Vincent Francis, age 62, of Monroe, was arrested on Wednesday, March 23 in connection with the crash, said the NYPD.
