'Happy-Go-Lucky' Westchester Police Officer Killed In Crash
A 23-year-old Westchester County police officer was killed in a Hudson Valley crash. The crash occurred in Orange County at approximately 1:50 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, in the town of Highlands on Route 9W northbound according to Trooper Steven Nevel of the New York State Police. Port Chester Police Officer Christopher Bernal, who was driving a 2004 Honda motorcycle northbound on SR 9W, was killed when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, Nevel said. Child Sex: Hudson Valley Man Charged With Assault Of 10-Year-Old Girl, DA Says
A Hudson Valley man is behind bars after allegedly sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl. Orange County resident Dylan M. Benner, age 21, of Middletown, was charged with predatory sexual assault against a child on Thursday, Aug. 3, said District Attorney David M. Hoovler and City of Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden. Benner was arraigned and remanded to the Orange County Jail without bail. Man Drove Wrong Way For 18 Miles On Busy Roadway In Region, Police Say
A confused 86-year-old wrong-way driver made it 18 miles navigating his way driving the wrong way in opposing traffic before ultimately safely coming to a stop in the region with an assist from State Police in Sullivan County. At approximately 3 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 25, New York State Police Troop F received a report of a suspicious vehicle driving the wrong way on State Route 17 in the area of Hancock in Delaware County.
