Lost Hikers In State Forest In Mamakating Rescued By Ranger Forest Rangers rescued five hikers lost and suffering from heat exhaustion and lack of water on a trailhead at a state forest in the region. The incident occurred in Sullivan County at Roosa Gap State Forest in the town of Mamakating around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 22. Forest rangers from the state Department of Conservation responded to a 911 call from the hikers who said they were lost and couldn't find their way back to the Cox Road trailhead in the forest, said DEC officials. Man Found Dead After 3-Day Search In Hudson Valley A 45-year-old man who had been missing for several days was found dead in the Hudson Valley by state forest rangers assisted by state police. The unidentified Brooklyn man's body was found in Ulster County at the Mohonk Preserve in Marbletown, on Friday, March 17, by rescuers who had been searching the steep, rocky terrain for three days after his vehicle was found in the parking lot of the preserve, said Jeff Wernick of the New York Department of Conservation.
