Target announced that it would lower prices on 5,000 "frequently shopped" items in its stores nationwide, the company said in a press release.
Those items include milk, meat, bread, soda, fresh fruit and vegetables, snacks, yogurt, peanut butter, coffee, diapers, paper towels, pet food, and more, the chain said in a Monday, May 20, news release. The new prices will be rolled out throughout the summer.

A cold front will move through the region accompanied by precipitation and followed by a drop in temperatures.
Ahead of the late-day arrival of the front on Wednesday, May 24, skies will be mainly clear, according to the National Weather Service. The high temperature will be in the mid-70s.
A line of showers will accompany the front, with a slight chance of thunderstorms, late Wednesday afternoon into the early evening.

Gas Prices Hit New Record High In New York Amid Surge In Oil Costs
There is no relief in sight for motorists in New York as prices at the pump continue to rise to new record highs, according to AAA.
As of Monday, May 16, AAA was reporting that the average price per gallon has risen to $4.76 in New York, setting another new record after peaking at $4.52 a week prior, the previous high.
Diesel gas is also on the rise, up to $6.50 as of Sunday, May 15, also a new record in New York.
According to AAA, there is not expected to be any relief for drivers with Memorial Day and the busy summer driving season fast approaching.

Police have identified a man who was found shot to death on a Hudson Valley roadway on Memorial Day.
Tyriq Seward, an 18-year-old former Rockland County resident who lived in South Carolina, was killed around 9:50 p.m., Monday, May 31, in Spring Valley.
A Spring Valley Police officer was on patrol on Crispus Attucks Road and heard multiple gunshots in the area, Detective Matthew Galli said.
Responding officers found Seward, formerly of Spring Valley, lying in the roadway on Rose Avenue where he was pronounced dead, Galli said.

A line of thunderstorms will sweep through the region, bringing the potential for severe weather.
The time frame for the storm system, which will be ignited by an approaching cold front, is late Wednesday afternoon, May 26 through Wednesday evening.
Damaging wind gusts, large hail, and a couple of tornadoes are possible, the National Weather Service said in a Hazardous Weather Outlook statement issued Wednesday.

Hundreds Face DWI, Speeding, Other Charges In Hudson Valley State Police Memorial Day Crackdown
New York State Police troopers in the Hudson Valley dished out hundreds of tickets during Memorial Day Weekend to everyone from impaired motorists to speeding drivers.
During the special enforcement campaign, which was held from Friday, May 22 through 3 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, troopers issued more than 8,900 tickets, including 203 for alleged DWI.
Troopers investigated 457 crashes during the detail, which resulted in injuries to 11 New Yorkers. There were also two fatal crashes during the holiday weekend.

With a photo of a 13-year-old area teen who was killed by a drunk driver by his side, Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco warned drivers about the dangers of impaired driving.
While traffic on roadways is expected to be lighter than normal over the Memorial Day weekend due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions, Falco said his office is still enforcing the laws.
