Automated Speeding Ticket Radar Program Takes Effect In Hudson Valley, Elsewhere In NY
A brand-new law that has just launched means motorists on some of New York's busiest roadways may find themselves on the receiving end of automated speeding tickets. The five-year program which has been rolled this year is a joint effort by State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) and Thruway Authority (NYSTA). to enhance the state’s ongoing efforts to slow motorists down in work zones. Man Ticketed For Using Phony Passenger In HOV Lane, Police Say
A man has been ticketed for allegedly using a phony passenger in order to drive in a high-occupancy vehicle lane on one of the busiest highways in the Northeast. Police today issued the summons to the resident of Lake Grove in Suffolk County after he was pulled over for driving with a drama mask attached to his front passenger seat in the HOV lane on the Long Island Expressway in Commack. Northern Westchester Man Shot From Other Vehicle On Long Island Expressway
A Northern Westchester man was struck by a bullet while traveling on the Long Island Expressway, police said. The victim, a 28-year-old Peekskill resident, whose name has not been released, was struck in the leg in a drive-by shooting at approximately 11:30 p.m. in Melville on Monday, Sept. 7 near Route 110 and Round Swamp Road. Suffolk County police investigators said that the alleged shooter was driving on the Expressway before speeding away after the shooting. Man Pleads Guilty For Distracted Driving Crash That Injured State Trooper
A Long Island man will avoid prison time after admitting to distracted driving during a crash that left a New York State Police trooper “severely disabled” in a case that was prosecuted by the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office. West Islip resident Jesse Cohen, 24, pleaded guilty to third-degree assault in Suffolk County Court in Riverhead. The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office recused themselves from the case due to a conflict. New Yorkers are getting a new way to hit the links. Topgolf Entertainment announced it will be opening its first New York location on Long Island early next year, bringing a new form of golf to the area.
