Gun Buyback Program In Hudson Valley Nets 235 Weapons, Including Assault Rifles
A recent community gun buyback event netted 235 firearms in one city in the region.
The annual Ulster County program -- held Saturday, April 29 in Kingston -- sponsored by New York Attorney General Letitia James, the Kingston Police Department, and the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office is the largest gun buyback hosted in the region, the AG's Office said.

Police have identified the body of a woman found floating in the Hudson River.
The woman's body was found in Dutchess County on Monday, April 10, 10 near the Mid-Hudson Bridge and the city of Poughkeepsie.

Hudson Valley Man Charged With Burning Car, Filing Fraudulent Claim, Police Say
A Hudson Valley man has been charged with arson after allegedly having his car burned and then filing a fraudulent claim.
Ulster County resident William Duryea, age 27, of Saugerties, was arrested on Monday, March 27 by state police, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
On Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, Duryea went to work at 10 p.m. at the Ulster Service Area on I-87. Around 11:20 p.m. he received a call from Kingston Police telling him that his vehicle was found on fire in Hasbrouck Park, Nevel said.

Hudson Valley Man Makes Off With $1K In Goods From Store, Police Say
A Hudson Valley man made off with more than $1,000 after allegedly breaking into a store.
The burglary took place in Ulster County on Monday, March 6 in the town of Ulster.
Scott A. Nussbaum, age 52, of Kingston was arrested on Monday, March 13, after the town of Ulster police responded to the Skywalker Smoke Shop at 1082 Morton Blvd., said Ulster Police Chief Kyle Berardi.
As a result of an investigation by Ulster Police detectives, Nussbaum was found to have forcibly entered the business and stolen over $1,000 in merchandise, the chief said.
