Inmate Dies At Capital Region Jail; Investigation Underway An investigation is underway after an inmate died at a jail in the region. Staff at the Schenectady County jail discovered 53-year-old Hussayn McCain unresponsive in his cell at around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, according to the sheriff’s office. Officers and medics attempted to revive the man, but he was later pronounced dead at Ellis Hospital. Sheriff’s officials did not speculate on a possible cause of death. Inmate Found Dead In Capital Region Jail Cell Days After Arrest An inmate was found dead at a jail in the region days after his arrest. Saratoga County Sheriff’s officials said Derek Labutta, age 43, of Schenectady, was found unresponsive in his cell at the county jail in Ballston Spa on Monday evening, March 18.
