Forest Rangers Rescue Severely Injured 78-Year-Old From Overlook Mountain In Ulster County
A hiker on a mountain in the region who may have broken their pelvis in a fall was rescued by forest rangers from the state Department of Environmental Conservation. The incident occurred in Ulster County at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, on Overlook Moutain in the Echo Lake area in Woodstock. According to the DEC, Ulster County 911 requested Forest Ranger assistance for an injured hiker on Overlook Mountain in the area of Echo Lake. An alleged night of drugs and drinking led to a dispute between two hiking companions by New York State forest rangers after one man told officials he was "being hunted like in 'Predator.'" Two college students in New York had to be rescued by state Forest Rangers after getting left behind in the woods of the Adirondacks while on a day retreat. Emergency crews in Warren County were called at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, with reports that two students were lost near Dippikill Pond, located about 10 miles northwest of the town of Warrensburg.
