A 36-year-old man was arrested and accused of defrauding a bank out of more than $4,000.
Ulster County resident Thomas Mann, of Clintondale, was arrested on Wednesday, April 6, and charged with eight counts of second-degree forgery, one count of third-degree grand larceny, and eight counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument, according to New York State Police.
State Police in Ellenville received a report on Thursday, March 10, of fraud involving a checking account of a person who died, police said.

Area Man Arrested For Shooting Death, State Police Say
An area man has been arrested for allegedly shooting and killing another man.
Ulster County resident Walter D. Post Jr., age 26, of Shawangunk, was arrested on Tuesday, Jan. 11, for the shooting death which took place around 5 a.m., said New York State Police.
According to Trooper Steven Nevel, the victim was found when troopers from the Ellenville barracks responded to Vinegar Hill Road in the town of Shawangunk for a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, troopers located the man dead outside of the residence, Nevel said.

Area Man Nabbed After Stabbing Store Employee In Head, Face During Robbery, Police Say
A Hudson Valley man was apprehended by state police for allegedly stabbing a convenience store employee man in the head and face during a robbery.
The robbery and attack took place around 4:40 a.m., Saturday, July 10, in Ulster County at the Valero Gas Station in Ellenville, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
According to Nevel, state police responded to the store at 109 Main Street after receiving a 911 call regarding a man stabbed in the head, face, and arm, during the robbery.

Police Search For Hit-Run Driver Who Left Victim On Side Of Road In Area
A man suffered serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle that fled the scene while he was out walking with his wife.
Ulster County resident George Barley, age 62, was struck around 2:20 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 2, while walking on Whitefield Avenue in Accord, said New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel.
According to Nevel, when troopers from the Ellenville barracks responded to the accident scene they found Barley lying about eight feet off the roadway, unconscious, but breathing.
Barley, a resident of Accord, appeared to be suffering from head and leg injuries, Nevel said.…
