Drunken, Snapchatting Driver Sentenced For Fiery Crash That Killed NY College Student
An admitted drunk driver who caused a fiery crash on a New York highway, killing a beloved college student, is heading to prison. New Jersey resident Vasu Laroiya, age 24, of Iselin in Middlesex County, was sentenced to 8 ⅓ to 25 years behind bars in Albany County Court on Friday, Jan. 26, after pleading guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide in the death of Katie Fisher. A man is facing charges in connection with a 16-year-old’s alleged drunken joyride with nine other teens in the region. Felony DWI: Hudson Valley Woman On Probation Caught Again, State Police Say
A Hudson Valley woman who was on probation for DWI/Leandra's Law was allegedly caught driving drunk again. The incident took place in Orange County Saturday, April 29, around 10:20 p.m., in the town of Newburgh. According to Trooper Steven Nevel, a trooper from the Montgomery barracks was patrolling in the town of Newburgh on Hy Vue Drive when he spotted a 2006 Nissan-Altima violating traffic laws. A woman from the Hudson Valley driving erratically was busted with a blood alcohol content more than triple the legal limit during a traffic stop, New York State Police announced. New York State Police received a report of an erratic driver who was traveling northbound on I-87 at approximately 9:15 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, Troop T Commander Jennifer Gottstine said.
