Man Parks SUV In Train's Path In Esopus, Runs Away, Cops Say
Police in New York say a Connecticut man intentionally parked his Chevy Equinox on train tracks in the path of a CSX train and then ran away only to be caught. The Hudson Valley incident occurred in Ulster County around 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, south of the Esopus Avenue railroad crossing in the town of Espous. According to Capt. Joseph Sciutto of the Ulster County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a report of a train hitting a car. Hudson Valley Woman Drives Into CSX Train By Mistake, Suffers Injuries
A Hudson Valley woman suffered minor injuries after she allegedly mixed up backing out and accidentally pulled forward and drove into a CSX train. The incident took place in Ulster County around 2:40 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 14 near the Leggs Mills Road railroad crossing. Freight Train Derailment Shuts Down Capital Region Highway; 2 Cars Plunge Into River
Cleanup efforts are underway following a freight train derailment that shut down a major highway in the region. The Rensselaer County incident happened just before 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, near Route 67 in Valley Falls. County officials said a Norfolk Southern train was carrying a total of 94 cars when 10 of them derailed near the Hoosic River. Of the 10 cars that left the tracks, two went into the river. 39-Year-Old Struck, Killed By Train In Hudson Valley
An investigation is underway after a person was struck and killed by a train in the Hudson Valley. The incident happened at around 3:35 p.m. Friday, March 10 in Ulster County in the area of Winsupply on Morton Blvd in the Town of Ulster. That's when the Ulster County Sheriff's Office says a 911 caller reported the CSX train striking the pedestrian. The pedestrian, a 39-year-old man from Kingston, was pronounced dead at the scene. A car hauler was hit by a train in the Hudson Valley after the driver pulled onto one of the tracks, authorities said. The incident took place in Rockland County around 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 18, in West Nyack on Pineview Road. According to Clarkstown Police Det. Metro-North Announces New Safety Improvements, Positive Train Control
The MTA has taken steps to ensure the safety of Metro-North riders. Metro-North President Catherine Rinaldi announced that “Positive Train Control” has been extended to cover nearly 90 percent of the Hudson Line. All Hudson Line trains, including Amtrak and CSX, are now operating in Positive Train Control for the 67 miles between Marble Hill and Poughkeepsie. Tractor-Trailer Hit by CSX Train In West Nyack, Police Say
A tractor-trailer and CSX train collided in West Nyack, cutting power to the area. The collision took place around 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 11, at the Pineview Crossing, said the Clarkstown Police.
