Man From Region Who Impaled Roommate With Metal Broom To Spend Years In Prison
A Hudson Valley man who impaled his roommate in the head with a metal broom, killing him, will spend years behind bars.
Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced on Tuesday, Aug. 27, that Orange County resident James Rich, age 36, of Newburgh, was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for killing a man with a broomstick.
Rich was convicted in June by a jury of all charges, including murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

A Hudson Valley man is headed to prison after pleading guilty to criminal possession of a weapon and possession of drugs.
Orange County resident Steven Bostic, age 41, of Middletown, was sentenced Monday, April 22, to 10 years in prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision, according to Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler.

Trio Nabbed For Hudson Valley Home Burglaries, Police Say
Three men were apprehended by police in the Hudson Valley shortly after allegedly committing home burglaries.
The incident occurred in Orange County around 7:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 2, on Continental Drive in New Windsor.
The men were identified as Queens residents Jamez Torres Tinoco, age 41; Diego Hernandez-Corba, age 29, and Julian Cortes Cacamelo, age 23, after the homeowner called police to say he spotted the men on his home surveillance cameras attempting to enter his home, said Chief Daniel Valeri, of the New Windsor Police.

A Hudson Valley man is behind bars for allegedly sexually abusing a 14-year-old victim.
Orange County resident, Christopher Johnson, age 32, of the city of Newburgh, was arrested on Thursday, July 6, following an investigation by the New York State Police, the City of Newburgh Police Department, and the Orange County District Attorney’s office, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
The investigation began after allegations that Johnson engaged in sexual conduct with a 14-year-old, Nevel said.
Johnson was charged with criminal sexual acts and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police in the Hudson Valley have nabbed a man wanted in connection with the murder of an area man and also injured a 5-year-old.
The murder took place in Orange County on Thursday, Sept. 29, in the City of Newburgh.
City of Newburgh Police Commissioner Jose Gomerez announced Tuesday, Nov. 22 that Lamont Williams, age 29, no known address, was arrested in North Carolina following a months-long investigation.

A Hudson Valley woman has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for starving to death a 7-year-old boy in her care.
Orange County resident Leticia Bravo, age 40, of Newburgh, was sentenced on Tuesday, June 21 after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the death of Peter Cucuas.
In addition to the 15 years, Bravo will also serve five years post-release supervision, said Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler.
