A suspected catalytic converter thief from New York has been nabbed over five years later following an investigation that began in Connecticut and spanned two states and three counties. Jeraud Anthony, age 38, of the Bronx, was arrested on multiple charges Monday, Feb. 12, in connection with a stolen catalytic converter outside a business in Fairfield County. Alleged Catalytic Converter Thief Apprehended In Area
An alleged catalytic converter Hudson Valley thief was nabbed by state police. Dutchess County resident George Foster, age 39, of Wappinger, was arrested on Sunday, Oct. 16, said Trooper AJ Hicks. On Oct. 16, troopers began investigating the theft of catalytic converters at the Sheep and Wool Festival hosted by the Dutchess County Fair Grounds, Hicks said. With the assistance of the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck, an investigation determined Foster entered the fairgrounds parking areas and removed the catalytic converters from three Honda Elements, he added. A pair of would-be catalytic converter thieves were caught in the act in Westchester, authorities said. The suspects, identified as Felix De La Rosa and Jason Dominguez, both of New York City, were busted by police Saturday night, Aug. 20, as they targeted vehicles in Yonkers, police said. An investigation into stolen catalytic converters landed eight Columbia County residents in jail. Investigators had been looking into numerous larceny complaints around the Claverack area since December 2021, according to New York State Police. Police are warning of an uptick in catalytic converter thefts in the area. The New York State Police are investigating numerous complaints of stolen catalytic converters from vehicles throughout the Columbia County area, according to a statement. The crimes are occurring at all hours of the day, with vehicles parked close to roadways or with more expensive catalytic converters more likely to be targeted, police said. Four men were arrested after they were caught in the act of stealing a catalytic converter in Westchester County. The men were arrested on Tuesday, March 22, in Yonkers in the area of Delano Avenue.
