Burglar Who Targeted Capital Region Businesses Nabbed Over Year Later, Police Say
A suspected burglar is facing charges more than a year after allegedly targeting multiple businesses in the region.
Columbia County resident James Smith, age 52, of Hudson, was arrested Wednesday, Sept. 20, in connection with a burglary at a Brunswick business in Rensselaer County in April 2022.
According to New York State Police, Smith broke into a business on Hoosick Road at around 4:40 a.m. on April 3, 2022. The business was closed and unoccupied at the time.

Stranger In Shower: Woman Entered Capital Region Home, Bathed Herself, Police Say
A homeowner in the region got quite the surprise when they discovered a stranger bathing herself in their home.
The incident happened just before 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 16 in Rensselaer County, at a home in Brunswick.
New York State Police were contacted by the homeowner, who told troopers that a woman had entered their home without permission and used the shower.
When troopers arrived, they found the suspect, 34-year-old Jessica Wise, of Troy, still inside the bathroom.

Moments after completing his jail sentence for having inappropriate sexual contact with four different teenagers, a New York man was immediately re-arrested on a new sex charge, authorities said.
Kyle Pascher, age 21, of Troy, was taken into custody Friday, Sept. 23, at the Rensselaer County Correctional Facility on a warrant for sexual misconduct.
The charge stems from an alleged inappropriate relationship between Pascher and a child under the age of 17 that was reported in January 2022, New York State Police said.

Man Assaults Employee At Capital District Horse-Riding Business, Police Say
A man is facing charges for allegedly assaulting an employee at a horseback-riding business in the region.
The incident happened In Rensselaer County at One Trick Pony Rides, located in Pittstown, New York State Police said.
Troopers were first notified on Friday, Aug. 5, about an assault that had reportedly occurred the previous day on a man who lives and works at the business.
