ATV Mob Causes Havoc On Hudson Valley Roadway
State Police are investigating a mob of ATVs and motorcycles who took over a roadway in the region, injuring one and threatening a trooper. The incident occurred in Dutchess County around 4:10 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8, on Route 9D in Wappingers Falls. According to State Police Trooper AJ Hicks, troopers responded to a report of 30 to 40 motorcycles and off-highway vehicles operating "recklessly" in the roadway and on sidewalks. Years in prison await a 19-year-old man who confessed to dragging a New York State Police trooper on his ATV while attempting to flee. Rensselaer County resident Joseph Dominy, of Sand Lake, pleaded guilty to assault in Rensselaer County Court on Friday, May 31. 19-Year-Old ATVer Drags Trooper 200 Yards While Fleeing In Capital Region, Police Say
A 19-year-old man is accused of injuring a New York State Police trooper in the region while attempting to flee on an ATV. The Rensselaer County incident happened at around 5 p.m. Friday, March 1, in Sand Lake on Johnny Cake Lane. State Police said the trooper stopped Joseph Dominy, of Averill Park, for illegally operating an ATV. Dominy was reportedly uncooperative and attempted to drive away. Suspect Throws Brick Through State Police Barracks In Northern Westchester
Despite a full-out search including helicopters, a suspect who threw a brick through the window of a state police barracks in the Hudson Valley managed to escape. The incident took place on Thursday, Feb. 24 Northern Westchester at the State Police Somers Barracks, located at 295 Route 100 during the evening hours. Police Probe Reports Of ATVs Being Driven On Rockland Roadways
After receiving complaints from residents of ATVs being driven on area roadway, one Rockland County police department is reminding riders it's illegal to do so. The Orangetown Police Department is offering some background information on the laws surrounding riding ATVs in an effort to help riders avoid tickets or have their vehicles impounded. According to the department: You can't operate an ATV on a highway unless it is posted and designated for ATV use by the state.
