Authorities in the Hudson Valley were kept busy over several days with holding suspects accountable for leaving their pets in hot cars and animal abandonment, officials announced. The incidents all happened in Putnam County between Thursday, Aug. 1, and Saturday, Aug. 10, the Putnam County SPCA announced on Sunday, Aug. 11. 2 Ferrets Found Abandoned In Crate In Hudson Valley Parking Lot: Suspect At Large
Authorities are searching for whoever was responsible for abandoning two ferrets found inside a crate at a Hudson Valley Park and Ride parking lot, police said. The two ferrets were discovered inside a plastic crate in Putnam County on Wednesday morning, March 13 at the Park and Ride parking lot on Route 311 in Patterson, according to the Putnam County SPCA. Watch: Police Find Cat Abandoned At Capital Region Park, Owner Charged
A man from the region is facing criminal charges after allegedly abandoning his cat at a park. Police in Watervliet were called to Hudson Shores Park on Wednesday, May 31, after someone found the cat inside a crate without food or water. Video shared by the department on Wednesday, June 14, shows the cat inside the crate, which had been left behind a concrete pillar, “obviously to avoid detection,” police said. Animal Cruelty: Abandoned Dog Found Tied To Tree In Capital Region During Heatwave
Police are asking for the public’s help after a dog was found abandoned and tied to a tree in the region. The heartbreaking scene was discovered Thursday, April 13, at the Pine Bush Preserve, near Old State Road and the City of Albany border, according to Albany Police. Officers with the department’s Special Operations Unit found the female dog tied to a tree without any food or water. At the time, outdoor temperatures were in the upper 80s. Know Her? Abandoned Beagle Seen Being Pushed Out Of Jeep In Area
The Putnam County SPCA is seeking information regarding the abandonment of an adult female beagle. On Tuesday, Dec. 1, around 1 p.m., a delivery driver observed an individual push the dog out of an older model, Black Jeep Wrangler onto the side of Route 301, in the Town of Carmel, said the SPCA. The vehicle then sped off as the dog attempted to follow it. The witness was able to catch the dog and brought it to the Putnam Humane shelter.
