Police are investigating after a dead body was found inside a home in the region. Albany County Sheriff’s deputies made the shocking discovery at an Albany residence in the West Hill neighborhood, located on Sheridan Avenue near Henry Johnson Boulevard, on Thursday, July 11. A cable company employee was electrocuted while working on a utility pole in the region. The Albany County incident happened at around 2 a.m. Friday, April 19, in the town of Berne on Long Road. The Spectrum Cable employee was in a bucket truck performing routine equipment maintenance on a utility pole when he came into contact with an electrical line, a spokesperson for Spectrum’s parent company Charter Communications told Daily Voice. He was sent to help them, but police say a paramedic from the region stole from his patients after they were hospitalized. Albany County resident Devvan Farina, age 39, of Albany, was arrested on multiple felony charges, including burglary, on Tuesday, Feb. 6. Bethlehem Police said Farina stole from multiple homes while working as a paramedic for the Albany County Sheriff’s Office in Bethlehem and a firefighter for the city of Troy. Missing Capital Region Man Found Dead
The search for a missing man from the region has ended in tragedy. Albany County resident Richard Ryther, age 71, of Glenmont, was reported missing Friday, Nov. 24. On Sunday, Nov. 26, Bethlehem Police announced that Ryther was found dead in a wooded area at the Moh-He-Con-Nuck Nature Preserve. The preserve is located just yards from Ryther’s home on River Road. His death does not appear suspicious, police said. The Albany County Coroner’s Office will determine an official cause of death. Security screeners stopped a man from carrying a loaded gun onto a plane at an airport in the region. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers made the discovery Monday, June 19, at Albany International Airport, the agency announced. A Capital Region man is heading to federal prison for attempting to bring a loaded handgun onto a plane at Albany International Airport. Josef Jarvis, age 32, of Albany, was sentenced to nearly four years behind bars Thursday, April 28, after pleading guilty to illegally carrying a firearm as a felon. State Provides Funds To Ulster County Sheriff’s Office For Police Body Cameras
New York Attorney General Letitia James has announced funding for the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office to invest in body-worn cameras. The funding was presented in a check for $69,750 to the department on Friday, Oct. 18 as part of James’ Capture an Account of a Material Situation (CAMS) program.
