Riverhead Town Police said a masked man approached the counter and requested a pack of cigarettes before demanding that the female clerk open the cash register. Fatal Crash: 21-Year-Old From East Hampton ID'd As Victim In Riverhead One person was killed in a crash involving a pair of vehicles on a Long Island roadway. It happened around 8:20 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 6 in Riverhead, near a Target on Old Country Road. A 2024 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R, operated by Christian Gutierrez, age 21, of East Hampton, struck another motorcycle, a 2006 Yamaha R6, operated by Rodolfo Castillo, age 54 of Southampton.  Gutierrez had numerous injuries and died at the scene, Riverhead Police said. The incident happened just before 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, in Riverhead, on eastbound Old Country Road, near the Gulf Gas Station and the Residence Inn Hotel. Hit-Run Crash: Greenport Man Drove Drunk With 3 Kids In Car In Riverhead, Police Say A man has been accused of driving drunk with three children in the car after a hit-and-run crash on Long Island. The incident happened around 8:10 p.m. in Riverhead. Greenport resident Juan L. Arevalo-Lopez, age 22, crashed a white Honda Civic on Old Country Road before fleeing the scene, according to  Riverhead Police Department. Responding officers found Arevalo-Lopez to be intoxicated while his 1-year-old daughter, and two boys -- ages 9 and 10 -- were inside the vehicle, said police.
