Long Island House Fire Leaves Family Dog Dead A house fire on Long Island left a dog dead. The blaze began at about 4 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 17 on Seaman Road in Jericho. Responders arrived to find the home engulfed in flames from the second floor and heavy smoke throughout.  All residents made it out safely, though the family’s dog was found dead inside.  The Nassau County PD Arson Bomb Squad and the Nassau County Fire Marshal are investigating. Firefighters from Jericho, with assistance from Syosset, Hicksville, Westbury, Plainview, Bethpage, South Farmingdale, Glenwood, and Carle Place, responded and extinguished the fire.

Dog Found Abandoned, Tied To Pole On Southern State Parkway A female Mastiff dog was rescued after authorities found her tied to a light pole with a note and food bowl nearby. It happened on Monday, July 1 in Hempstead, according to New York State Police. At around 5:30 a.m. that morning, Troopers responded to calls about an abandoned dog tied to a light pole near Exit 21 on the Southern State Parkway. The dog, a white Mastiff named Roxi was found tied to the pole with a leash. Group Steals Dog For Ransom On Long Island: Police Five juveniles were arrested after police say they stole a woman’s dog and held it for ransom. The alleged theft occurred in Elmont on Wednesday, May 29, according to Nassau County Police. Just before 6 p.m., a 34-year-old Elmont woman noticed that her Pekingese dog was missing. She then received a text message, which included a picture of five young men holding her dog. The group wrote “$500” under the photo. Then, she received a call from an unknown number.
