This Jericho Middle School Ranked Among Top 5 In Nassau County, Report Says

The grades are in and these middle schools are a cut above the rest, according to the community and school ranking site Niche.

After considering a number of key areas, the following schools were ranked in the website’s 2025 “Best Schools in Nassau County” report:

  • No. 1 - H. B. Thompson Middle School in Syosset
  • No. 2 - Willets Road School in Roslyn Heights
  • No. 3 - South Woods Middle School in Syosset
  • No. 4 - Roslyn Middle School in Roslyn Heights
  • No. 5 - Jericho Middle School

All five middle schools earned an overall grade of A+, receiving top marks in the academics and teachers categories.

Most hold an A- grade in the diversity category, though Jericho Middle School was given a B.

Students at each school also enjoy a lower student-teacher ratio than the national average of 17 to one. The best, nine to one, were found at both Willets Road School and South Woods Middle School.

Looking at math scores, students at H. B. Thompson Middle School and Willets Road School fared the best on standardized exams, with 87-percent scoring at or above proficiency.
