Fatal I-684 NY Plane Crash: Witness Stopped, Pulled Victim From Wreckage, New Report Says Federal officials have released more information about a small plane crash on Interstate 684 at the border of Fairfield, CT, and Westchester, NY counties.   The information, which centered on a fatal plane crash on I-684 on Thursday, Dec. 12, was released in a preliminary report by the National Transportation Safety Board on Tuesday, Dec. 31. Rockland County resident and commercial pilot Jacob Yankele Friedman of Monsey, age 32, was killed in the crash, while the 26-year-old private pilot, Kalmen Goldberger, of Linden, NJ, was hospitalized with serious injuries. Lane Closures Scheduled For Stretch Of Nassau County Highway: Here's Where, When Scheduled roadwork could spell delays for Long Island drivers. In the Town of Oyster Bay, State Route 106 will undergo overnight lane closures on Tuesday, Dec. 10, according to the New York State Department of Transportation. Beginning at 10 p.m., two southbound lanes of SR 106 will be closed between Old Cedar Swamp Road and SR 107 while crews remove and install overhead signage. Stretch Of Long Island Expressway To Undergo Lane Closures Upcoming roadwork could slow Long Island drivers. Multiple lanes of eastbound Long Island Expressway will undergo overnight closures in the town of Islip and Brookhaven beginning at 10 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, according to the New York State Department of Transportation. Crews will close the right lane between exit 59 and exit 60 to facilitate the removal and installation of a new overhead sign.
