NY Native, Army Veteran Ishmoile Mohammed Remembered After Fire Island Drowning
A Wyandanch native who drowned at Sailors Haven on Fire Island is being remembered as a decorated combat veteran and kind soul who dedicated his life to service, friends told Daily Voice on Sunday, Aug. 24.
Ishmoile Mohammed, 59, died after being pulled from a rip current at Sailors Haven on Saturday, Aug. 23, Suffolk County police previously announced. He was airlifted to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was pronounced dead.

Tropical Storm Chantal made landfall just before sunrise Sunday, July 6, near Litchfield Beach, South Carolina, bringing strong winds, torrential rain, and storm surge to parts of the state’s coast.
