Officer Injured By Driver Fleeing DWI Crash: Nassau County Police
A Westbury man was arrested after fleeing a DWI crash that left a responding officer injured, police announced on Saturday, Dec. 14.
Wilmer Escobar, 30, of Catherine Street, struck two unoccupied, parked cars with his black Infiniti near Prospect and Brooklyn Avenues before fleeing on foot at 1:10 p.m., according to police.
Officers tracked Escobar to Catherine Street, where he resisted arrest, causing an officer to sustain hip and back injuries, authorities said. The officer was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

A Lynbrook man is facing multiple charges, including felony criminal possession of a firearm, after fleeing a traffic stop and firing a shot during his arrest in Elmont early Sunday, Dec. 8, Nassau County police announced.
Antonio Lam, 30, of the 180 block of Atlantic Avenue, was stopped for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation near Hoeffner Avenue and Pelham Street at 12:50 a.m., detectives said. During the stop, Lam fled on foot and was apprehended near Carnegie Avenue, according to police.
