Laser Strikes Helicopter Pilot, Flight Crew Over Long Island: Police
A Selden man is accused of striking a Suffolk County police helicopter pilot and crew with a laser beam during an airborne search, authorities announced on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
The incident unfolded as Aviation Section officers flew a helicopter to search for a driver who fled a crash in Selden on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 11:10 p.m., police said.
While officers circled the area, Joseph Gil, 33, of 196 Dare Road, pointed a laser from a nearby property at 205 Dare Road, striking both the pilot and members of the flight crew, according to police.

NY Man Killed In ATV Crash In Poconos, Passenger MedEvac'd: Police
A New York man was killed and another seriously injured when their ATV was struck by a car in the Poconos, police announced on Monday, Sept. 15.
The crash happened in the northbound lane of State Route 115 in Tunkhannock Township at 2:36 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, according to the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department.
Dymtro Prokopets, 22, of Brooklyn, was operating the ATV with 19-year-old passenger, also of Brooklyn, when their vehicle was struck from behind by a 2018 Nissan Sentra, police said.

3 Injured When Small Plane Crashes On Snowy Mountainside Near NY/VT State Line
Three people were injured when a small plane en route from Maryland crashed on a snowy mountainside in Vermont.
The incident happened near Mt. Equinox, in the town of Manchester, Vermont, at around 8:30 a.m Wednesday, Feb. 26, according to Manchester Police.
The plane, a Piper Cherokee Charger, had taken off from Martin State Airport in Middle River, Maryland, shortly after 6 a.m., Baltimore station WBAL reports.
