A Long Island attorney is accused of stealing over $750,000 entrusted to him for a real estate transaction, and then blowing some of the money on personal expenses, including gambling.
Peter Giattino, 43, of Wading River, was arraigned in Suffolk County Court Thursday, Jan. 15, on a charge of grand larceny.
Giattino was hired in June 2025 to represent a client in the purchase of a residence in Southampton, according to the Suffolk County DA’s office. The client wired the full purchase funds to Giattino days later.

A Nassau County police officer is accused of stealing $200,000 from a fellow officer recovering from illness and spending it on personal expenses.
Leonard Cagno, 39, of Oakdale, was arraigned on grand larceny charges in Suffolk County Court on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
Cagno, a Nassau County police officer and owner of BW Media Consulting, LLC, allegedly convinced another officer to invest $200,000 in his private company between February and June 2024, prosecutors said.

Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly announced on Thursday, Nov. 7 that the news comes after a 14-month investigation involving wiretaps and surveillance.
