An NYPD detective formally confessed to causing a drunken, fiery crash on a Long Island highway that injured two people. George Moore, age 40, of Freeport, pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular assault and related charges in Nassau County Court on Wednesday, Nov. 13, in connection with a wreck on the Meadowbrook State Parkway. ID Released For Hicksville Man Killed In Hit-Run Westbury DWI Crash
The identity has been released of a man killed in a hit-and-run Long Island crash involving an allegedly drunk driver. The crash happened around 4 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, in Westbury. A 2006 gray Chrysler Sebring was traveling eastbound on Old Country Road when it struck a bicyclist near the intersection of State Street. The bicyclist sustained extensive injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by a Nassau County Police paramedic. He's now been identified as Robert F. Mccarthy, age 69, of Hicksville. Drunk Driver Plows Through Salon In New Hyde Park, Police Say
A Long Island business was heavily damaged by an alleged drunk driver. The incident happened in New Hyde Park, at the Touch of Class II salon on Jericho Turnpike, at around 1:15 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27. Nassau County Police said officers arrived to find an unoccupied Acura sedan just outside the building’s front exterior. The impact shattered two large windows and toppled part of a brick wall. A 46-year-old Long Island man faces multiple felony charges after police said he drove while intoxicated and crashed into multiple parked vehicles with his two young daughters in his car.
