Federal safety officials have escalated their investigation into more than 1.2 million Ford pickups after complaints about sudden transmission downshifts more than doubled, officials said. The probe into about 1,270,970 Ford F-150 trucks expanded on Friday, Jan. 30, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The agency first opened a preliminary investigation into the pickup's issues back in March 2025. A motorcyclist was killed in a single-vehicle crash on William Floyd Parkway in Upton, Suffolk County police announced on Thursday, Oct. 2. Donald Crispi, 57, of Ridge, was operating a 2014 three-wheel Harley Davidson northbound near Express Drive North when he lost control and struck a guardrail at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, according to police. A 31-year-old man was killed Thursday morning, July 17, when his car slammed into the back of a stopped tractor-trailer on Long Island. David Gange, of Melville, was driving an Audi northbound on Route 110 shortly after 11 a.m. when he struck the rear of a Freightliner tractor-trailer that was stopped at the intersection of Duryea Road in Melville, Suffolk County Police said. Woman Seriously Injured In Crash At Busy Long Island Intersection
A woman suffered severe injuries in a crash at a busy Long Island intersection. It happened around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, in Oakdale. A 2020 GMC Sierra was traveling southbound on Oakdale-Bohemia Road when it attempted to make a left turn onto Montauk Highway when it struck the woman, according to Suffolk County Police.
