Man Dies Shoveling Snow In NJ: Police
A 67-year-old man died shoveling snow in Essex County, New Jersey on Sunday, Jan. 25, authorities said. At 12:44 p.m., officers responded to Beach Road and Martin Road for a report of a person down on the sidewalk, Verona police said. They found the man on his back unresponsive with a shovel in his hand, police said. CPR was initiated and he was transported to Mountainside Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. The victim has not been identified, police said.

Triathlon Swimmer Suffers Medical Emergency In Water: Nassau County Police
A 66-year-old woman suffered a medical emergency while competing in the Point Lookout Triathlon on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025 at 8:18 a.m., police announced. According to Nassau County Police, fourth precinct officers responded to Point Lookout Town Park at 1300 Lido Boulevard after receiving a call for an aided case. The woman had been participating in the triathlon when she experienced a medical episode while in the water, investigators said. An investigation is under way after a 7-month-old died on Long Island. Officers responded to a 911 call reporting that the baby at a Riverhead residence, on 3rd Street, was unconscious and not breathing. CPR was performed, but the infant was pronounced dead at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. Riverhead Town PD detectives and the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office are investigating the circumstances that led to the child's death.
