43-Year-Old Struck By Vehicle On Long Island A man was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle on Long Island. The crash occurred around 5:20 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, in front of 1640 Montauk Highway in Bellport.  A 71-year-old Bellport man was driving a 2010 Toyota RAV4 westbound on Montauk Highway when the vehicle struck a 43-year-old man as he was crossing the road. The man who was hit, a resident of Bellport, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries.  The driver of the RAV4 was uninjured in the incident. Suffolk County’s Proposal 2 was overwhelmingly approved by a margin of 72 to 28 percent, according to the Suffolk County Board of Elections. It will add a one-eighth of a cent sales tax increase – or 12.5 cents on every $100 spent – to expand the sewer system. It would also provide tax-free grants to Suffolk County homeowners on septic systems to connect directly to the sewer system.
