A Long Island woman is accused of practicing unlicensed dentistry from the kitchen of her one-bedroom apartment, putting at least one patient’s health at risk, prosecutors alleged.
Gladys Serrano, 70, of Hempstead, was arraigned on a felony count of unauthorized practice of a profession in Nassau County Court on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
It came after she conducted dental procedures, including extractions, from a makeshift setup in her apartment on Greenwich Street, according to the DA’s office.

Nassau County Police responded to the couple’s North Bellmore residence at around 11:40 p.m. on Oct, 6, 2022, after several people called 911 reporting a domestic incident.

A Long Island man out on parole shot and killed a man who had been sleeping in a car, a jury found.
Kadeem Lewis, age 31, of Hempstead, was found guilty of second-degree murder and related charges in Nassau County Court on Thursday, Oct. 31, in the killing of Jose Sanchez-Velasquez.
According to investigators, Lewis and a co-defendant, Richard Ford, were walking around Hempstead looking for a house to burglarize when they spotted Velasquez sleeping in the front seat of his car at around 2:20 a.m. on Nov. 25, 2019.
