A Northern Westchester resident was lucky enough to get a surprise visit from a black bear at her home. The bear was seen on the porch of a Bedford residence on Hissarlik Way on Saturday, July 27, according to the home's resident. Rare Coyote Warning Issued In Metro NY Community
A rare warning was issued by officials in a metro New York community following a recent rash of coyote sightings in the region. On Long Island, local lawmakers in Nassau County and the SPCA are warning that there have been multiple coyote sightings along the North Shore of the county and in the village of Lattingtown in the Town of Oyster Bay, prompting the warning. There have been dozens of reported black bear sightings in the area the last month. Including at a golf course. Even a cemetery. And now, most recently, a bear in the Hudson Valley making its own morning meal with the contents of garbage cans. New Bear Sightings Reported In Northern Westchester
There have been new black bear sightings in the area. The latest report comes out of Northern Westchester, where the police department received two calls on Wednesday regarding bear sightings in the village. Croton-on-Hudson Police said that the first call came at approximately 1:25 p.m. in the area of Cleveland Drive, while the second sighting was reported at 2 p.m. on Mountain Trail. The sightings come on the heels of several others in the area. It seems black bears are everywhere these days, including this one enjoying a morning stroll in Poughkeepsie. Daily Voice reader Lauren Jolly snapped this shot of the bear cruising through his neighbor's yard on Casper Creek Road early Thursday morning. He, or she, didn't seem interested in visiting and just moved along. Of course, never approach a black bear and don't keep food or birdseed in your yard to attract them. Multiple Black Bear Sightings Reported In Northern Westchester
Multiple sightings of a black bear were reported Saturday in Northern Westchester near the Putnam border. The Yorktown Police Department received the reports of a black bear along the Route 202 (Crompond Road) corridor near BJ's, Lexington Avenue, Sylvan Glen Park Preserve, the Yorktown Paw Park and Stony Street.
