A 42-year-old man has admitted to felony drunk driving charges after injuring a Hudson Valley mayor who tried to help him, officials announced.
Orange County resident Matthew Labar of Goshen, age 42, pleaded guilty to felony DWI charges on Friday, Jan. 12, Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler announced on Friday, Jan. 26.

Divers Recover Body Of Rockland Man Who Jumped Into Greenwood Lake To Save Kids
State Police divers have recovered the body of a man who jumped into Greenwood Lake to save two children.
Greenwood Lake Police said the incident took place Sunday, Aug. 18, when children on a crowded pontoon boat were swimming in the lake with life vests on when two of them began to struggle attempting to get back in the boat around 5 p.m.
One of the people aboard the boat, Dovid Traube, 38, of Chestnut Ridge, jumped into the water to save the kids, Greenwood Lake police said.

Man Threatened To Kill Wife, Child By Driving Off Cliff In Area, Police Say
With his 4-year-old daughter pleading with him from the backseat of a car, an Orange County man threatened to kill the little girl and her mother by driving off a cliff following a series of domestic violence incidents, police said.
Warwick police said August Melish, 37, had beaten his wife the day before on April 22 at the family’s home in Greenwood Lake, said Lt. Thomas Maslanka.
