New York regions entering Phase 3 of their novel coronavirus (COVID-19) economic recovery can now entertain larger gatherings as the state continues to daily monitor their metrics. With Western New York and the Capital Region on track to join the Finger Lakes, Southern Tier, Central New York, Mohawk Valley, and North Country in Phase 3 this week, Gov. The new 3.6-mile shared bicycle-pedestrian path on the new Tappan Zee Bridge, with landings in Westchester and Rockland, will open to the public. The opening starts at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 15. ass Can Get Credits For Unused Trips
With commuters traveling less during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the New York State Thruway Authority is offering credits to some workers that haven’t been hitting the road as often as normal. With non-essential businesses shut down due to the outbreak of the virus, the Thruway Authority announced it will be authorizing credits to some motorists who purchased monthly E-ZPass plans to be used while traveling over the new Tappan Zee Bridge. New Tappan Zee Bridge Toll Hike Approved By State Thruway Authority
Driving on the new Tappan Zee Bridge is about to get more costly for motorists. The New York State Thruway Authority has approved increasing the toll on the bridge for E-ZPass users to $5.25 by 2021 and $5.75 by 2022. Those paying by mail would see a 30 percent increase, including a two-dollar surcharge on monthly bills. Additionally, the toll for commercial traffic would increase, with the most trucks set to pay $55.77 as soon as 2022. New Tappan Zee Bridge Span Reopens After Fire Breaks Out On RV
The Westchester-bound span of the new Tappan Zee Bridge has reopened after a fire involving a recreational vehicle broke out. The blaze, on an RV pulling a Honda Pilot, began just before 3:30 p.m. and was quickly contained, the New York State Thruway Authority said in a statement. No injuries were reported. "A structural engineer has evaluated the overhead gantry structure, and all lanes have re-opened to allow traffic to flow," the NYSTA said at 5 p.m. "Motorists should expect residual delays.”

Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing In Hudson River Near New TZB
A small, single-engine plane that reportedly ran out of fuel was forced to make an emergency landing in the Hudson River near the new Tappan Zee Bridge. No injuries were reported in the incident which occurred just before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 14. Divers assisted after the controlled landing close to Piermont Pier. The plane was then towed to the Tarrytown Marina. (See photo above.) It was not immediately reported if more than one person was aboard the plane. This is a developing story. New Round Of Lane Closures Scheduled On I-87/I-287 Near Tappan Zee Bridge
There will be a new round of lane closures for several days on the New York State Thruway as contracting crews continue work near the new Tappan Zee Bridge. Tappan Zee Constructors announced that they will continue roadway improvements near the new Tappan Zee Bridge, which will require single-lane closures on I-87/I-287. Beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 5, there will be one southbound lane closed from exit 11 to the bridge. There will be single lane closures near the Tappan Zee Bridge as contracting crews continue roadway improvement efforts in the area.
