'Very Serious Matter' Causes Closure Of School District In Hudson Valley A Hudson Valley school district has canceled classes for the day as police investigate what officials describe as a "very serious matter." Highland Falls-Fort Montgomery Central School District Acting Superintendent Michael McElduff announced on the evening of Monday, June 6, that all schools in the district would be closed on Tuesday, June 7. The incident took place in Ulster County around 10:40 a.m., Thursday, May 26. ID Released For 23-Year-Old Killed In Crash On Busy Hudson Valley Roadway State police have released the identity of a Hudson Valley man killed in a crash with a tree truck on a busy roadway. The crash took place in Orange County in the town of Tuxedo on Old Route 17 around 7:30 a.m., Monday, April 18, said Trooper Steven Nevel. Ahkem Chu III, age 23, of Chester, was driving a 2007 Honda Accord southbound on Old Route 17 when for unknown reasons he crossed over into the northbound lane and struck a tree truck that was fully loaded, Nevel said. Accused Area Drug Dealer Nabbed Following Investigation A Hudson Valley drug dealer has been arrested for allegedly selling drugs in the area following an investigation by state police. Michael Knapp, age 37, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested on Friday, April 1, said Trooper AJ Hicks. An investigation found that Knapp illegally possessed and sold buprenorphine and naloxone in the city of Poughkeepsie, Hick said. He was charged with two counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
