With the weather warming up, golfers have been quick to hit the links in New York at some of the state’s finest courses. Golf Digest, which has been publishing a “Best in State” ranking for courses around the country for more than four decades, recently released their list of the most popular golf courses, including several in New York. A former bookkeeper working for a prominent pizzeria owner in Fairfield and Westchester counties is facing time behind bars after admitting to helping her boss evade paying federal taxes. Queens Village resident Idalecia Lopes Santos, 59, has pleaded guilty in Bridgeport district court to one count of tax evasion for her role in helping Bruno DiFabio, the owner of several restaurants, avoid paying hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes. A 28-year-old serial burglar has been sentenced after admitting to a string of burglaries in Westchester last summer. Thousands of residents in Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess are without power as wild winds continue whipping through the area. On Monday morning, Con Edison was reporting that there were 31 current outages in Westchester, as of 10:30 a.m., impacting 335 of their 348,198 customers who were left in the dark. NYSEG was reporting an additional 703 customers who were without power on Monday morning. A Westchester village whose residents saw a $30,000 increase in average household income last year jumped to the No. 2 spot on the newly released annual Bloomberg Richest Places national index. Scarsdale, with an average household income of $417,335, moved up to the second spot after being ranked third nationally last year. Update: An 85-year-old Westchester man who went missing has been located and is safe. John Lamson was observed by a concerned citizen walking in the vicinity of the BP Gas Station, 190 Aqueduct Road in White Plains at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6 in the Town of Greenburgh, Greenburgh Police said. A small fire broke out on the tracks of a Metro-North station in Westchester, leading to delays for riders during the morning commute. The fire was first reported at 8:26 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24, on a third rail at the Scarsdale Metro-North station, MTA spokesman Aaron Donovan said. The fortune teller with customers throughout Westchester and Fairfield is fighting back, suing a Florida private investigator, claiming he ruined her business after she was charged with allegedly bilking a 64-year-old Bedford Hills woman out of her life savings. Janet Lee, also known as “the Bedford Psychic” and “the Greenwich Psychic,” has filed a $10 million lawsuit against PI Bob Nygaard and his company, Nygaard Investigations. A fortune teller with customers from throughout Westchester and Fairfield has been charged for allegedly bilking a Bedford Hills woman out of her life savings by convincing her that she had been cursed in a past life as a "great" Egyptian miracle worker. After receiving and investigating a complaint from the woman, Bedford Police detectives arrested 44-year-old Janet Lee of Scarsdale, also known as "the Bedford Psychic" and the "Greenwich Psychic." Westchester Man Killed In Fiery, Chain-Reaction Crash
A horrific, fiery, chain-reaction five-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on the Brooklyn Bridge caused the death of a Westchester man. It began when a pickup rear-ended a Volkswagen and another vehicle, causing the Volkswagen to rear-end an SUV which then struck another SUV. Kristopher Hambas, 32, of Scarsdale, the Volkswagen driver, was identified as the victim of the 7 a.m. crash on the Brooklyn-bound side.
