Photos: Jeep Crashes Into Popular Food Store In Area
There were no injuries when the driver of a vehicle lost control and plowed through the front of an area store. The incident took place in Dutchess County around 9:03 a.m. at the Sunflower Natural Food Store at 24 Garden St., in Rhinebeck. The Rhinebeck Fire Department arrived within minutes and found a Jeep Cherokee had driven into the structure, "causing significant damage to the storefront." Police Investigate Incidents Of Man Having Suspicious Contact With Children
An investigation is underway after two incidents of a man having suspicious contact with children were reported to police. The New York State Police, Rhinebeck Police Department, and the Red Hook Police Department are investigating the incidents that happened in Dutchess County on Tuesday, Jan. 28 in the towns of both Rhinebeck and Red Hook. In both cases, a man was described as older, short in stature and with gray facial hair. One witness believes the subject was operating a blue pickup truck, possibly a Chevrolet, state police said. Call For Shots Fired Sends Police Out In Force In Area
State Police turned out in force after a call was received for shots fired, but once on the scene, it was discovered it was falsely reported. The incident took place around 8 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 15, when New York State Police received a 911 call about a reported disturbance involving a gun and shots fired at a home in Red Hook, said Trooper AJ Hicks. When officers arrived on the scene they found that the incident had been falsely reported, Hicks said. "No one was injured and there was no shooting," Hicks said. Lightning Strike Burns Electrical Panel At Area Home
An intense thunderstorm over the weekend in the Rhinebeck area kept firefighters on the run, especially when a house was struck by lightning. The incident took place around 2:56 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 3, on Montgomery Street off Route 9 in Rhinebeck, said Rhinebeck Fire Department Spokesman Jeff Cotter. Arriving crews encountered smoke showing from the eaves of the home and a significant amount of smoke throughout the house, Cotter said. Clinton Corners Woman Faces Identity Theft Charge
A local woman was taken into police custody after allegedly using an unauthorized credit card more than a dozen times over a stretch of nearly two months, police said. Detectives with the Rhinebeck Police Department launched an investigation late last year when the credit card was used 17 times in the in December and January. The investigation led police to Clinton Corners resident Tina LaMonica, 41, who was arrested this week. LaMonica was arrested and charged with a felony count of second-degree identity theft. A 22-year-old man involved in a physical altercation at a popular area tavern was busted by police after attempting to flee the scene, investigators said. Investigators from the Rhinebeck Police Department announced on Thursday, June 13, that on April 24, Millbrook resident Oscar Sosa-Amaya was arrested following an incident at Foster’s Coach House Tavern in Rhinebeck. Police said that Sosa-Amaya was arrested while attempting to flee the scene and driving while intoxicated. A 27-year-old man is behind bars after taking police on a high-speed chase and attempting to flee on foot after crashing into another vehicle in Red Hook. Officers from the Rhinebeck Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop of Hyde Park resident Christopher Marchant for a traffic violation on Saturday, Nov. 10.
