Young Hudson Valley Man Falls Victim To Romance Scam, Loses Thousands
Police are investigating a case where a young man fell victim to a romance scam. The woman in Rockland County told the man she was corresponding with through a dating app she needed some financial assistance with a business matter, Ramapo Police said. The woman said she would mail him a check to deposit into his bank account, and that he needed to mail back a check for a lesser amount – in essence, he was allowed to keep the difference for his trouble. 19-Car Pileup During Height Of Storm Among Hundreds Of Crashes Reported In Region
This story has been updated. A 19-car-pileup during the height of the Nor'easter was one of numerous storm-related crashes in the region, although most motorists stayed off roadways. At least six people were injured in the multi-vehicle crash that shut down part of the Henry Hudson Parkway in upper Manhattan Wednesday, Dec. 16 during the evening hours as the snow was beginning to pile-up. A woman was arrested for alleged felony DWI Leandra's Law in Rockland County after police received calls of a possible intoxicated driver. The incident took place around 5:40 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 28, when Ramapo Police responded to the call regarding the motorists on the Orange Turnpike in the Village of Sloatsburg. Car Crashes Down Embankment After Woman Swerves To Avoid Deer On Route 202
A car crashed down an embankment after a woman swerved the vehicle to avoid a deer in the Hudson Valley, according to police. The incident happened early Saturday afternoon, Oct. 3 in Rockland County on Route 202, just west of Mayer Drive in the Village of Montebello. The vehicle rolled over after going down the embanked, Ramapo Police said. Luckily, this driver was not injured. The roadway was temporarily closed as the tow truck removed the vehicle, according to police.

Child Seriously Injured After Being Struck By Vehicle
This story has been updated. A child suffered serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle in the area. The incident happened on Saturday, Feb. 15 at around 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15 in Rockland County. The child, reportedly a 6-year-old boy, was rushed to Westchester Medical Center. Remsen Avenue between Groove Street and Hilda Lane in Monsey was closed during the crash investigation. It reopened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, Ramapo Police said. Beloved High School Soccer Coach ID'd As Victim Of Fatal House Fire
A beloved high school soccer coach has been identified as the victim of a fatal house fire that broke out over the weekend. The blaze started just after 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11 in Rockland County on Rockland Lane in Hillcrest. The house was fully engulfed in flames when Ramapo Police officers arrived. After extinguishing the blaze, the victim, now identified as Venel Edouard, was located inside the house. Edouard was a coach and security guard at Spring Valley High School. Semiconscious Girls Rushed To Westchester Medical Center After Near Drowning In Area
Two young girls ages 2 and 3 were pulled semiconscious from a pool outside a home in the area. The incident took place around 12:30 p.m., Monday, May 20, at a home on Sydell Lane in Spring Valley, said Ramapo Police Sgt. Shawn Baker. First responders who arrived on the scene found the girls in the partially-fenced pool, semiconscious and not breathing, police said. Police are investigating a serious head-on crash on Route 59 in Hillburn that took place early in the morning The crash occurred around 6:45 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11 when a northbound garbage truck swerved into the southbound lane of Route 59 striking a small sedan head-on, Ramapo Police said. A 6-year-old boy riding an electric scooter was hospitalized after being struck by a car in Rockland County on Saturday. A man who climbed a sign on the New York Thruway threatening to jump has been removed and is now in custody. The incident took place around after 3:30 p.m. Monday when the unidentified man climbed the sign along I-87 at Scotland Hill Road in Spring Valley, confirmed the New York State Police.
