NY Parolee Caught In Stolen Car In NJ, Cops Say
A 19-year-old parolee from New York was arrested in New Jersey after police say he was caught driving a stolen car while on parole, officials said. The incident happened around 10:20 p.m. on Monday, May 12, when Corporal Jeffrey Dean of the Fairfield Police Department saw a silver Honda Accord exit the QuickChek on Passaic Avenue through the entrance and commit multiple traffic violations, police said in a news release. Four Hudson Valley businesses were busted for selling alcohol to a minor during a sting operation. The operation took place in Orange County in New Windsor and Newburgh on Thursday, June 9. A man police say was on crack was brought to the hospital for a mental evaluation after allegedly screaming at officers, demanding that they shoot him. Jeremy L. Loving of Saugerties, 32, who is undomiciled, was charged with the misdemeanors of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and disorderly conduct on Saturday, Nov. 27, according to Saugerties Police. Police are searching for an armed robber who allegedly threatened a convenience store clerk with a knife before fleeing with cash. The incident took place around 3:30 a.m., Thursday, April 2, at the QuickChek store on Route 9W in the Middlehope section of Newburgh, said Town of Newburgh Police Lt. James Nenni. Area Man Charged With DWI After Refusing Chemical Test
A 42-year-old man was arrested on DWI charges following a traffic stop. Ulster County resident William Babcock, of Saugerties, was arrested on Wednesday, Nov. 27, after being stopped by officers at the Quickchek on Route 9W, Saugerties Police Chief Joseph Sinagra said. After being stopped, Babcock allegedly refused to submit to a chemical test, Sinagra said. He was charged with DWI and refusal to take a breath test. During his arraignment at the Town of Saugerties Justice Court, his driver's license was revoked. Babcock was released on his own recognizance.
