A beloved K9 officer who had a successful career with a police department in the Hudson Valley has died unexpectedly at a young age. K9 Maverick, who served with the Kent Police Department in Putnam County since 2017, died on Sunday, March 19 at the age of 7 after an unexpected medical emergency, Kent Police announced. 'Person In Crisis' Hospitalized After Hours-Long Standoff In Area, Police Say
A person described as being "in crisis" was hospitalized following an hours-long standoff with responders at a residence in the area. At about 10:50 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 24 in Putnam County, the Carmel Police Department received a call to check on the welfare of a person in crisis at a residence on Union Valley Road. A tense hours-long standoff ended when an area resident with a rifle killed himself. Putnam County Sheriff Robert Langley, Jr. said the incident unfolded around 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 23, when the town of Kent Ambulance along with the EmStar medics were dispatched to Pudding Street in the Town of Putnam Valley for a man with chest pain. Man, 20, Barricades Himself Inside Carmel Home, Police Say
A local man who barricaded himself inside his Carmel home, threatening to hurt himself, was coaxed out by the Carmel Police Department and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department.
