Photos: Car Plunges 75 Feet Near Dam In Northern Westchester
A motorist in Northern Westchester attempting to avoid being in a crash went through a guardrail, took to the air, and plunged nearly 75 feet near the edge of the Croton Dam and Croton River.
First responders from Croton-on-Hudson, Ossining, and Westchester County Police received reports of a crash at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27, near the entrance of Croton Gorge Park.

On Saturday, Sept., 28, State Police from Brewster arrested Jason M. Curnen, 26, of Bedford, for Aggravated DWI. He was traveling on I-684 in the town of Southeast, when he was stopped for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law. Investigation revealed he was under the influence of alcohol, and was subsequently arrested.

New Black Bear Sighting Reported In Westchester
A new black bear sighting has been reported in Northern Westchester.
The Bedford Police Department issued an alert to area residents warning that the bear was seen in the Bedford Village area of town. Other recent sightings in the area have happened in North Castle, Danbury, Beekman, Poughkeepsie, Ramapo, Ossining, and Clarkstown.
According to police, residents should not leave garbage cans or any food outside. Bears should never be approached, surrounded or cornered, as bears will “aggressively defend themselves if they feel threatened.

Five Charged With DWI During Westchester Sobriety Checkpoint
Five people are facing driving while intoxicated charges following a fixed sobriety checkpoint in Northern Westchester.
The detail, on Route 9 in the town of Cortlandt, was conducted on Saturday, Aug. 31 by state police troopers from the Somers, Cortlandt and Hawthorne barracks.
Those facing charges are:

Three-Alarm Fire With Explosions Breaks Out At Northern Westchester Condo Complex

Firefighters from multiple municipalities battled a three-alarm blaze at a luxury condominium complex in Northern Westchester.
The fire broke out in a single unit at the Half Moon Bay complex in Croton, just before 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, and there were explosions reported, according to authorities at the scene.
The fire, which was confined to the one unit, was brought under control by 10 a.m.
