Tractor-Trailer Crash Knocks Out Power In Northern Westchester
Traffic is getting back to normal following a truck crash that took out power lines and knocked out electricity in Northern Westchester. The crash took place during the early morning hours in Ossining on Wednesday, March 11, on Route 9 near Havel Street. Ossining Police said on Twitter that currently, all southbound lanes and one northbound lane have reopened. Con Edison expects to have power restored to some 400 customers affected by Wednesday afternoon. Information was not available on the condition of the driver.

Northern Westchester Man Nabbed For Illegal Gun Possession After Traffic Stop
A traffic stop led to the arrest of a 21-year-old Northern Westchester man who was unlawfully in possession of a handgun in Dutchess County, State police said. New York State Police troopers in Wappinger conducted a traffic stop on a 2014 Honda Civic at approximately 12:20 a.m. on Route 9 when they say driver committed a traffic violation. According to police, during the subsequent stop, troopers found that Ossining resident Mauricio Agudelo was in unlawful possession of a Rohm Model RG31 revolver, police said. Teen Admits To Role In Fatal Stabbing Of Westchester Man Over Clothes
A teenager has pleaded guilty to manslaughter for the stabbing death of a 21-year-old Westchester high school graduate last year. Ossining resident Andrew Knight, 19, accepted a plea of first-degree manslaughter for his role in the stabbing death of Gregory Jackson Jr. last year, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced. Knight had originally been charged with murder, manslaughter and weapons charges. Tanker Truck Fire Breaks Out Near High School In Northern Westchester
An oil tanker fire tied up traffic for several hours near an area high school. The oil tanker caught fire at approximately 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11 on South Highland Avenue in Ossining near the high school, officials said. The incident caused severe traffic problems on Route 9A and in the surrounding areas. Police said that the fire caused traffic diversions between Main Street and Walker Avenue. Raw Sewage Leaks Into Hudson River After Pipe Bursts In Northern Westchester
Tens-of-thousands of gallons of raw sewage were dumped into the Hudson River when a water main broke in Northern Westchester. Emergency repairs had to be made after a major water main break on Kemeys Avenue in Ossining at approximately 10 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15, near the Kemeys Cove Pump Station. Officials said that once the break was discovered, a contractor was called to repair the break. Tanker trucks arrived at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Sunday and began hauling sewage. Northern Westchester Man Admits To Sexually Abusing Child At Area Restaurant
A 40-year-old who was to stand trial for sexually abusing a child pleaded guilty just as proceedings were about to begin. Segundo Nicolas Sanchez Gillen, of Ossining, pleaded guilty to sexual abuse of a child, just as pretrial hearings were underway on Monday, Nov. 25 in Westchester County Court, District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr., announced on Tuesday, Nov. 26. As part of the plea, Gillen admitted under oath that he subjected a child under the age of 11 to sexual contact at an Ossining restaurant on Feb. 19. Route 9A Lane Closure Scheduled
The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists of a lane closure on Route 9A. The Department says a lane closure is scheduled for Route 9A northbound and southbound between Route 117 and Stormytown Road in the Westchester County town of Ossining and the villages of Ossining and Briarcliff Manor. The closure will occur on Saturday, Nov. 23 and Sunday, Nov. 24 between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m while crews perform maintenance work, weather permitting. Former Coach From Northern Westchester Accused Of Molesting Student At School
A former children’s sports coach in Westchester has become the latest accused of sexually abusing a minor decades ago as part of a Child Victims Act case that was filed earlier this month. Edwin Gaynor, of Ossining, is accused of fondling a minor during a gym class in the 1960s when he worked at Immaculate Heart of Mary School in Scarsdale, according to a lawsuit filed in Westchester County civil court.
