Hudson Valley High School Student With Passion For Sports Dies At Age 16
A Hudson Valley high school student who loved sports, has died at the age of 16.
Sam Lown, age 16, a longtime Dutchess County resident from the town of Red Hook, died on Tuesday, July 26, following a courageous battle with cancer, according to his obituary.
Born on April 7, 2006, in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of Donald and Jennifer (Spencer) Lown.
Sam was a student at Red Hook Central School and had a "great passion" for many different sports including football, lacrosse, and basketball.

Putnam County resident Joe Piscopo Jr., age 49, of Brewster, the co-owner of Johnny's Pizzeria in Mount Vernon, died on Friday, Jan. 29.
Know for his hearty and friendly laugh, Piscopo ran the 79-year-old restaurant with his brother, Ricky, and sisters Concetta and Tina after their mother Maria Piscopo died in 2018 at age 69 from injuries sustained in a crash on I-684.

Covid-19: Noted Sports Photographer Anthony Causi, Pace University Grad, Dies At 48
Anthony Causi, a prominent and popular sports photographer, died from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
Causi, a Pace University graduate who worked for the New York Post, died on Sunday, April 12 at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, the paper announced. He was 48.
A Brooklyn native, Causi joined The Post in 1994, working his way up from a photo messenger to a full-time photojournalist. During his career, he covered the Yankees, Mets, Giants, Jets, Knicks, Rangers and more for The Post.
Causi was remembered by Yankee legend Derek Jeter on social media.

A former NFL player from the area who was a team captain at Syracuse University has died at age 43.
Scott Weston Kiernan, who grew up in Greenwich, died suddenly on Thursday, Jan. 4 in Clermont, Florida. A cause of death was not released.
A former Syracuse football offensive lineman, Kiernan, was well known as the player who co-captained the 1998 Big East champions, before moving on to play for the NFL, first with the New York Giants and the Carolina Panthers.
