Westchester Man Driving Drunk Becomes Combative With Troopers, Police Say
A 29-year-old man is facing felony charges after police said he drove while intoxicated in Westchester County and shoved a trooper against a patrol car, causing damage.
Troopers stopped a vehicle on I-95 in Larchmont for vehicle and traffic violations at about 11:10 p.m. on Friday, June 24, according to New York State Police.
The driver, identified as Philip Thompson, of New Rochelle, was found to be intoxicated, police said.
When police tried to take Thompson into custody, he resisted arrest and shoved a trooper toward traffic against the patrol car, authorities reported.

Westchester Duo Busted With Boxes Of Fireworks, Police Say
Two Westchester men are behind bars, accused of illegally selling fireworks.
Police in New Rochelle got an anonymous tip that someone was loading boxes of fireworks into a van on St. John’s Place on Tuesday afternoon, June 28, police said.
When officers arrived, they witnessed a vehicle matching the caller’s description driving in the area and conducted a traffic stop, according to police.
Officers saw in plain view “numerous, large boxes of fireworks,” police said.
Both men were arrested. Police identified them as Paul Fortuna, age 60, and Michael Porretto, age 53, both of New Rochelle. …

A man was nabbed during a sting operation for an alleged restoration scheme where he ripped off a Westchester County resident for $30,000.
The incident took place in New Rochelle on Friday, June 24.
Jose Maldonado, age 51, of the Bronx, was nabbed by New Rochelle detectives after the victim became suspicious and called the police, said Capt. J. Collins Coyne, of the New Rochelle Police.
