Authorities have identified a man who died in police custody following an arrest in the region. The Rensselaer County incident happened just before noon Friday, Oct. 13, in Troy’s Lansingburgh neighborhood. According to Troy Police, officers responded to a home after a resident called 911 reporting a trespasser. When they arrived, they saw 48-year-old Woody Smith, of Troy, crawling out of a first-floor window, police said. Man From Region Attacks Deputies After Narcan Brings Him Back To Life, Police Say
A 40-year-old who overdosed on drugs and was brought back to life with Narcan allegedly attacked deputies who saved him, police said. The incident took place in Sullivan County in Lake Kiamesha around 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 19 on Route 42. According to Sullivan County Undersheriff Eric Chaboty, deputies responded to the scene of a vehicle crash and found a 2022 Toyota Prius in a ditch and Robert Forgione, of Loch Sheldrake, sitting on the ground against the car. A New York State Police trooper was hospitalized for possible opioid exposure while responding to a suspected overdose crash on a state highway. State Police on Long Island were initially called at around 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, with reports of an erratic driver in Hempstead, heading southbound on the Wantagh State Parkway near Hempstead Turnpike. Pharmacies in New York will soon be required to carry and dispense naloxone, the medicine used to quickly reverse the life-threatening effects of an opioid overdose. Double OD Incident Ends With One Fatality In Area
A double overdose ended with the death of one man in the area, police said. The incident took place around 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 8, on Hillside Road, said Beacon Police Det. Sgt. Jason Johnson.
