Route 9A Closure Scheduled
There will be weekend lane closures on Route 9A in Westchester. The New York State Department of Transportation announced that from approximately 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, there will be a lane closed in Mount Pleasant between Route 141 and Route 117. Officials said that motorists can expect delays, and have been advised to seek alternate routes, when possible. Flaggers will be in the area to assist with the flow of traffic.

Two Injured In Crash Involving Police Vehicle On Taconic
This story has been updated. A section of the Taconic State Parkway was closed after a serious two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon involving a Westchester County police vehicle. The crash took place around 3 p.m. in Mount Pleasant, state police said. Two people, including a Westchester County police officer, were injured in the crash. Both were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. The closure began at Lakeview Avenue.

Flooding On Four Westchester Parkways, I-684 Crash Snarl Evening Commute
This story has been updated. The Tuesday evening commute was a crawl for many in the area after a day filled with showers, heavy rain and flooding. Stretches of four of the most traveled parkways in the area were closed late Tuesday afternoon due to flooding and a crash on northbound I-684 blocked two lanes for about an hour. The I-684 crash was northbound at Route 35 (Exit 6) in Katonah with stop-and-go delays to Route 172 (Exit 4) through the late afternoon. More than two dozen motorists were busted by New York State Police troopers recently as law enforcement agencies in the Hudson Valley continue a nationwide crackdown on drunk, drugged and distracted driving. Among the local motorists charged include: Westchester County On Saturday, Sept. 15, State Police from Cortlandt arrested Luis V. Barreto Angamarca, 26, of Peekskill, for DWI. He was traveling on Furnace Dock Road in Cortlandt, when he was involved in a one-car motor vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that he was impaired by alcohol, and was subsequently arrested. Man Admits To Road-Rage Stabbing That Killed Westchester Man On Taconic
A 22-year-old man has pleaded guilty to fatally stabbing another motorist during a road rage incident on the Taconic State Parkway in Northern Westchester. Pleasant Valley resident Christian Walcyzk has pleaded guilty to manslaughter for the stabbing death in May last year of Daniel Siino, a 28-year-old father who lived in Hartsdale. Before the plea, he was facing charges that also included criminal impersonation and criminal possession of a weapon. A 43-year-old man from Westchester died after losing his footing while hiking on a mountain in the state of Washington. James Rothwell, who grew up in Mount Pleasant and graduated from Westlake High School in 1992, was with two other hikers on Buck Mountain in Chelan County, when he fell about 50 feet on Saturday, Aug. 4, according to the Seattle Times. Two Behind Bars Following Pursuit From Westchester Over New Tappan Zee Bridge
Two men are behind bars after taking police on a chase over the new Tappan Zee Bridge after allegedly stealing tools from the Home Depot in Mount Pleasant. The men, who have not been identified, tried to steal two “hammer tools” valued at $650 each around 12:40 p.m. Tuesday from Home Depot in Mount Pleasant, said Kieran O'Leary, spokesman for the Westchester County Police. Man Stopped In Westchester Charged With DWI For Third Time
An area man is facing a felony charge after being charged with driving while intoxicated for the third time. New York State Police troopers conducted a traffic stop shortly before 8 p.m. on Monday, when they spotted East Fishkill resident Eric Johnson committing a violation while driving his 2017 Chevrolet Silverado on the Taconic State Parkway in Mount Pleasant. Update: The 17-year-old Westchester boy who went missing earlier this month has been found and is safe, Mount Pleasant Police said on Wednesday, May 23. No further details have been released.
