Large Black Bear Spotted Near Busy Trailway In Northern Westchester Authorities are warning residents to take precautions after a large black bear was seen near a popular trailway in Northern Westchester.  In an announcement on Monday, June 3, the New Castle Police Department said the bear was seen in the area of the North County Trailway in Millwood.  Despite the sighting, the bear will only be encouraged to leave the area if it creates a public disturbance, acts aggressively toward a human or pet, tries to enter a home, or is injured and cannot move to escape, according to New York State Environmental Conservation guidelines. Car Rolls Over, Lands On Brush By Taconic State Parkway In Northern Westchester A vehicle was heavily damaged after rolling over and landing in an embankment on the side of the Taconic State Parkway in Northern Westchester.  The incident happened just before 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 13 on the northbound Taconic State Parkway in Millwood, according to the Millwood Volunteer Fire Co. #1.  Arriving firefighters and police soon found that the vehicle had left the parkway, rolled over, and landed back on its wheels on top of brush inside an embankment, the fire department said.  Crews then worked to stabilize the car and remained at the scene for over an hour …

Car Flips Over On Taconic State Parkway In Northern Westchester, Driver Hospitalized One person was taken to a hospital after their vehicle flipped over on the Taconic State Parkway in Northern Westchester.  The crash happened on Friday, March 3 just after noon when a car flipped over on the Taconic State Parkway southbound in Millwood just past the Exit 8 ramp, according to the Millwood Fire Department.  The occupant of the vehicle was able to free themselves from the wreckage and was evaluated by personnel from Ossining EMS and the Millwood Fire Department.  The driver was then taken to Westchester Medical Center to be treated for their injuries.

The new store will be the 10th store for the chain which also has an 11th location planned for Edge-on-Hudson in Sleepy Hollow.  No word yet on when that store will open.
