Search For Missing Man Leads To Lake Carmel Closure Lake Carmel is closed to swimmers and boaters as emergency responders search for a missing man. The Lake Carmel Fire Department said it was dispatched on a report of a missing swimmer at around 7:35 p.m. Saturday, July 20. The man has been identified as a Connecticut resident in his 50s. The department was assisted in the search by the Carmel Fire Department, Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department dive team and Putnam County Sheriff's Department, Kent Police. One Hospitalized In Route 6 Crash Between Car, Truck A crash between a car and a truck on Route 6 in Mahopac sent one person to the hospital.  The crash took place around noon, Wednesday, July 17, on Route 6 near Lupi Court, causing police to close one lane of the highway, said Jack Casey of the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department. One Hospitalized In Two-Car Crash On Route 6N One person was hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash on Route 6N in Mahopac Falls. The crash took place Friday, March 22, at Route 6N and Hill Street, said Jack Casey, spokesman for the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department. Carmel Police units were on the scene as fire units arrived. EMS began triage as fire police took over traffic, freeing up CPD to investigate the crash, Casey said. For the first time in 40 years, the four-wheel drive Ford 450 truck chassis was voted to go with a four-wheel drive Ford 450 truck chassis after having all "van fronts" on the department's rigs. Since the 4x4 truck chassis rides high, mechanics have installed an “air dump” switch both in the cab and at the back door of the patient compartment.
